Darby Dempsey has been with Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre since 2007 where she was a young student and participant in several productions. She first started honing her leadership skills when she was nominated Artistic Director of Fairhope High School in 2013-2014, where she was able to explore what it was like to work back stage, design and build set as well as direct. Darby competed at the State Walter Trumbauer Festival in 2012 and 2013 where she won the Solo Musical Female Comedic award and an All-Star Cast Member award. She designed and built a set out of repurposed materials for a one-act play Fairhope High School presented at the Festival and won Best Scenery and Technical Production. She graduated with National Honor Society from Fairhope High School in 2014. Darby then started teaching, directing summer camps and stage managing for Eastern Shore Repertory in the summer of 2015. She also taught theatre classes, wrote and directed a one-act Christmas play for The Renaissance School of The Eastern Shore in 2017. Darby most recently traveled with ESRT to Atlanta, GA where she directed a group that competed in the Junior Theatre Festival.
