CELEBRATING A 100 YEARS OF DAPHNE, “THE JUBILEE CITY”SUMMER WORKSHOP

COME JOIN THE PARADE…

We’re looking for performers, technical crew, artisans, and volunteers who are available between JULY 22 – AUG 1, 2026.

Below are links to forms for those interested in auditioning to perform in parade, build scenery & props, work on the costume and wardrobe team, work on street team (tech, operations), and those who would like to provide & drive a vehicle in the parade (golf cart, EV, scooter). Once form is completed you will receive follow-up details for each category of involvement.

WHAT:

THE CITY OF DAPHNE and EASTERN SHORE REPERTORY THEATRE are collaborating this summer to develop & workshop a parade to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of The City of Daphne in 2027. The 2026 summer workshop will culminate with a presentation of ideas & concepts including a prototype parade in downtown Daphne. 


The parade features an original story and musical score created and developed by David Redman Scott and David Dabbon that blends the history of Daphne, local folklore, and stage craft to create an original and unique celebration for all to enjoy.

WHEN:

WORKSHOP PARADE: The workshop will take place Monday, July 27th through Saturday, Aug 1st. The presentations of the 15 minute parade prototype will take place on the evenings of Friday, July 31st & Saturday, Aug 1st. 

AUDITIONS:

Auditions for the parade will be held on FRI, 7/24, 5pm - 7pm AND SAT, 7/25, 10am -12 noon; Callbacks will be held on SAT, 7/25 from 1pm - 3pm.

Cast will be announced Saturday, 7/25 at 7pm. All auditions will be held at the Nicholson Center for the Arts in Daphne located at: 1370-1398 Captain O'Neal Dr, Daphne, AL 36526.

REHEARSALS:

If cast in parade the following times will serve as rehearsals: exact rehearsal times tbd. Each parade participant’s rehearsal requirements & schedule will be determined by role cast in parade. The schedule allows for multiple sections of the parade to rehearse in multiple locations to maximize the focus of the parade workshop.

MON, 7/27: 6:30pm - 8:30pm - KICK OFF, orientation, schedule, safety protocols, costumes

TUE, 7/28: 6:30pm - 9:00pm

WED, 7/29: 6:30pm - 9:00pm

THU, 7/30: 6:30pm- 9:30pm

PRESENTATIONS ​**PARADE proto-type​**

FRI, 7/31: 6pm - 9pm

SAT, 8/1: 6pm - 9pm

2027 PARADE: Details TBD.

WHO:

We’re looking for volunteers including performers in the parade, artisans and builders to create props and floats, drivers to provide vehicles (golf carts, towing trucks, flat-bed trailers, etc.). 


The parade is produced by The City of Daphne in partnership with Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre. The Spirit of Daphne parade will be directed and designed by local native, David Redman Scott.


WHERE:

The workshop will be held in the Magnolia Place shopping center parking lot located at 27955 US-98, Daphne, AL 36526. Rehearsals will be held at various locations in Daphne.
